    To Johor and back again

So I drove all the way to Johor to send my grandmother to Muar and my two cousins to Batu Pahat. After that I drove all the way to Pontian to see her before I make the journey back home. I left home at 2pm on Monday and arrived back home today at 5am.

Not bad I guess for someone who have only recently discovered the joys of long-distance driving. Covering the west coast Johor trial in one day can actually be a rewarding experience. Looks like I will not be taking the bus from now onwards unless absolutely necessary. And I found out that I do like to drive at night. I certainly find it much more easier and less tiring but only if you had ample rest and the mental readiness before embarking on your journey.

    The gall of some people

The gall of some people to refer (indirectly, I might add — probably the person in question has no balls) to yours truly as a “splogger”. I do not like to brag or sound arrogant, but I would think that at least there would be a significant portion of readers and bloggers alike who know that I have been pinging to PPS since time immemorial and I have certainly always obeyed PPS 7-minute rule, with the exception of the multiple pings that WordPress sometimes causes — a technical issue totally beyond my control. It happens to almost every WordPress user that I know and nobody has complained about the “spam” — until this moron pounced on the issue when it happened to me because he did not like the subject matter in question.

    The Muslim reaction to Xmas

What should be the Muslim reaction to Christmas? The Islamic view of Christmas is very clear on this point. There can of course only be one answer, and it is contained in Surah Al-Ikhlaas, which is as follows:

Say: “He is Allah, the One and only,
    Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute,
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.” (Qur’an, 112: 1-4)

And do not let anyone tell you that there should be “tolerance” to this pagan festival, because this involves an act of Shirik, and the punishment of Shirik is only one, which is An-Narr, a painful torment indeed for those who associate God with another in worship. May God keep us away from His wrath and we remain in our Imaan. Ameen.

The word “Allah” is not an exclusive Muslim use

Frankly I don’t have any problems if those from the Abrahamic religions were to use the word “Allah” in their religious liturgy. Its not something which should be of a surprise, since the word Allah simply means “The God” in Arabic and it is used extensively in the Arabic Bible. Its not even a noun in the language, just a word to describe the God, the prefix al- being the definitive article and ilah meaning “god” in Arabic. As a side note, it should be noted that the word Elohim (which is the Hebrew synonym to the Arabic Allah) — the suffix -im being the definite article for eloh (god) — is used in the Hebrew translation of the Qur’an as well.
