We, the Central Youth Council of the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS), firmly express our deepest resentment over the production of offensively anti-Islam film “Fitna” by Dutch MP Geert Wilders.
We strongly condemn the airing of the film and demand immediate action by the producer to retrieve the film from public domain. The film is clearly an insult to Islam and maliciously misleads viewers of the true pictures of Islam. As constantly promoted by those anti-Islam ignorant propagators, the film tries to link Islam with terrorism. We would like to firmly reiterates here that Islam do not condone any form of terrorism as we believe that violence begets further violence. Islam principally and fundamentally opposes any form of violence, transgressions and any form of terrorism.

I remember her very well, since she was a product of my generation. At an age younger than me by at least four years, she stepped into Oxford (taking up Maths, no less!) while I was struggling in 2K1 at Sekolah Menengah Abdullah Munshi (and didn’t do well at Maths during that time, I admit). After watching the rubbish that is called FITNA, the latest anti-Islam movie diatribe from the Islamophobe extraordinaire Geert Wilders laknatullah alaih (may Allah curse him and send him to the deepest depths of Jahannam), I must say that these people sure are making me bored with their repeated accusations ad nauseam about Islam as well as their rather myopic view of the Muslim World in general. Perhaps I will do a more detailed assessment of the movie later but I do have some observations that I would like to address in pointing out the rather biased and ill-informed, propagandistic nature of this movie. It certainly lives up to its name of causing FITNA (discord) against Muslims and what they truly believe in.

Sure seems so, given my opposition to “libertarianism” as well as the fact that this definition of Communitarianism sure fits my ideals of a civil society, or the term that I much more prefer, ummah.
Communitarianism and libertarianism emphasize different values and concerns. Libertarianism is an individualist philosophy, with a strong focus on the rights of citizens in a republic. Communitarians believe that there is too much focus on these concerns, arguing that “the exclusive pursuit of private interest erodes the network of social environments on which we all depend, and is destructive to our shared experiment in democratic self-government”. They believe that rights must be accompanied by social responsibility and a maintenance of the institutions of civil society if these rights are to be preserved….
This is an echo of Dr. Ismail Faruqi‘s ideas regarding Ummatism. Reminder to self: read up more on Communitarianism.
