    Following them into a hole

Today, we see in the Muslim world that the ummah is slowly making this prophecy come true.

    Pos Malaysia office

    Pos Malaysia office

How many Pos Malaysia offices have you seen looking like this? The above was taken at the Pos Malaysia office in Kampung Tunku, Petaling Jaya. Now, if only they were to extend this to all Pos Malaysia branches in the country…it will do wonders for their image.

A visit to Shah Alam mosque

A visit to Shah Alam mosque

I was at the Shah Alam mosque at around 6.30 AM for the Fajr prayers three days ago as I thought it would be a good idea to visit the mosque after so long. Shah Alam Mosque, or its official name, Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (oh my, that is a mouthful!) is the State Mosque for Selangor Darul Ehsan. Outside the mosque there is a nice garden-like boulevard that stretches out to the gate. Hmm, I wonder if they allow family picnics there? Chinese PM for Malaysia?

    Chinese PM for Malaysia?

Even the thought of that happening would probably make many people bristle, including yours truly. A very long time ago, that is, back when the idea of MELAYU = ISLAM is synonymous with my identity. Things, of course, have changed since then and even more dramatically so after the recent General Elections. Frankly race was never an issue for me and I can accept an ethnic Chinese Malaysian as my Prime Minister but there is only one criteria: he must be a Muslim in order to uphold Article 3 of the Federal Constitution.

No exceptions and no further argument is necessary. And oh, in case you are wondering, that picture above is not a Chinese temple. It is a minaret of a mosque.

That senile Old Man in BBC Hardtalk

After watching that “interview” (it was more like a Western-bashing session to me), I can say with absolute certainty that the old man has certainly lost his marbles. I certainly do not know why he is accusing the British of calling the Malays “lazy natives”. That was colonialist talk some 100 years back by the likes of Frank Swettenham and R.O. Windstedt and is certainly something not repeated by the British today. For that matter, I doubt even Sackur knew what the old man was talking about. Perhaps that is the reality of his mentality, being trapped in polemics some 100 years ago!

And to be fair to Pak Lah, I think most of the problems that we see today occurring in Malaysia were due to him.
