    A new dictionary word

There are possible plans underway to apply to the Oxford and Webster to include a new word for their 2009 dictionary:

badawi [baa-daa-wee] (n.): To start something full of promise but end in disappointment, failure and/or disaster.

    e.g.:

“I’m trusting you to perform this task well; don’t do a badawi, ok?”

“Whatever I do, I will always find a way to badawise it.”

France badawied their Euro 2008 campaign. England pre-badawied theirs, while Italy were guilty of over-badawification.

Is he the “Saviour” or was he “saved”?

It is a common Christian argument that Jesus’ (P) original name is “Yeshua`“, which they claim means “salvation” in Hebrew. However, the entry “Yeshua`” in Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon elicits an interesting entry that is contrary to what they are claiming.

Is he the Saviour or was he saved?

    [H. W. F. Gesenius (S. M. Tregelles [tr.]), Gesenius’s Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon To The Old Testament Scriptures, 1881, Samuel Bagster & Sons: London (UK), p. 373]

We can see from the scanned entry above that the word means “that which is delivered, safe”, with the evidence of usage in Isaiah 26:1, 18. “Yeshua`” does not exist as a word other than as this name. Another name involving this root is “Jeshua`” (Joshua), which means ‘God + save’, just like many other Hebrew names, such as “Yehonatan” – ‘God gave’, “Yehoshafat” – ‘God judged’. In other words, “Yeshua`” is clearly related to a group of words meaning “save”.

“Why not Christianity, Buddhism or Hinduism Laws?”

This is a very tired, old reaction to anything involving any proposal to revive the Shariah. You will see non-Muslims going up in arms against this idea, even though it is merely at a proposal stage and yet to be properly formulated on how the framework would be or how it will affect both Muslims and non-Muslims. I think these days that is the same case with anything that involves the word “Islam” in it. Nevertheless, it is not my purpose in this post to talk about the Shariah or an Islamic State in Malaysia. That, we can leave for another time. What I want to answer is the insinuation is that “Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism” (or for that matter, any other religion apart from Islam) have a clear and concise idea of what constitutes “statehood” or even has a proper legal framework.
