    Eid Mubarak

Critical Thoughts will be on a hiatus in commemorating this auspicious event. In the meantime, check out Ocular Perspectives, the “new” photoblog I have set up with the domain ibnjuferi.org. With the unveiling of this photoblog, I now own all three major TLDs (.com, .org and .net) for the domain name ibnjuferi.

    Ismail Faruqi on the Trinity

Dr. Isma’il al-Faruqi wrote the following on the Trinity:

The offense of Christianity against transcendence was even greater. Islam charged Christianity with extending the nontranscendent concept to God’s “fatherhood of the Jewish kings” to Jesus and giving it, besides its moral signification of compliance with God’s commandments, the de-transcendentalizing ontological connotation of unity of substance between God and Jesus. Indeed, Christian catholicity defined itself with terms of this “substantial” identity of Jesus with God, as distinct from plurality of their “personalities,” characters and consciousness. Obviously, the source of this new departure from transcendence of the divine being within the Semitic stream was not the Jewish inheritance of Christianity. This had given Christianity the concepts, not their connotation. Neither was gnosticism the source of that departure, whose argument “If he suffer, he was not God; if he was God, he did not suffer” was hurled against their fellow Christians in defence of transcendence. The source must be the non-Semitic influence of the “mystery religions.” It was from this source that Christianity derived its “suffering God” who saves by dying and returning to life and whose mana (grace) is imparted to the communicant thought sacrament.

    Made a few changes

    Made a few changes

Wow, I didn’t realise that I neglected this blog for a whole month. I have a good reason for that too, as I have been busy with my company and setting up new blogs in various niches. Let’s also not forget the recent server migration change that I did to my latest acquisition (ah, how I like the sound of that!), Project Petaling Street. If you are still reading this, a belated Ramadhan Mubarak to Muslims all over the world that is going into its final ten days phase. Let us not forget that the Night of Power, Lailatul Qadar, is due upon us soon. Insha’allah we will find this Night which is better than a thousand nights combined.

Anyway, I have done a major change to the blog. I took the posts from the former “Ocular Perspectives” which was located at ibnjuferi.net and merged it with Critical Thoughts. I’ve decided that having two blogs with similar topics is a bit…well, weird. As for the .net domain itself, I’ve now turned it into the official domain name for Blogging For Money, hence discarding the .info TLD that I’ve wanted to get rid of for so long.

My little online empire has grown to 40 domains now, I am very proud of it. Only two years ago, I was a struggling blogger with only two domain names and barely making a minimum from the internet. Today, I am making quite enough to sustain my daily living. I sure have progressed far these days.
