When my husband came home from work nearly three months ago and told me he was moving out, I was shocked. I used to think that there was no way a husband or wife doesn’t know something bad is happening in their marriage, but that disproved my theory. We always got along, we still went out on dates, and we were trying to have a baby. He told me that he was just done with the marriage and for me to find a good divorce lawyer in Chicago. I tried to find out what was going on, but he just shut me out.
He did pack up his clothes that night and moved out. I cried myself to sleep that night, and I continued crying for about three days after that too. Then, I decided enough is enough. I talked with a couple of his close friends, because I was worried about his health. I didn’t know if he had snapped or what. That is when one of them told me that he had hooked up with his high school sweetheart who had moved back to town, and he was completely head over heels for her.
I was livid over that. I knew some women would fight for their husbands back in situations like this, but I am not one of them. I wanted nothing to do with him, because he had broken my trust. I was only too happy to find a divorce lawyer so I could get the sham of a marriage behind me. My ex did not contest anything and was actually quite generous. My friends told me that was his guilty conscience talking, and I had no problem taking more than my share for what he put me through. Now, I can start to put my life back together again, but I don’t know if I will ever be able to trust again. I hope so!
