Like the majority of Malaysians, I was eager to see the live telecast of our very first political debate which copied the American version of televised debate and so I actually waited until the very moment for the live event over Astro Awani at exactly 9 pm sharp. I must commend both the Information Minister dan DSAI for their impeccable behaviour during the debate: both were smiling and shaking hands at the end of the debate. No stones were thrown at each other and no physical blows were exchanged. I have to admit that I am impressed with the eloquence of the Information Minister, who was certainly notches above the previous Information Minister. Our politics certainly have matured a lot after the political tsunami of 8th March. Such a thing would be unimaginable ten years ago, much less televised.

This guy certainly doesn’t know how to take the hint. He was nearly wiped out in the last election but today he gave us a “gift” of RM2.70 per litre for petrol, up from RM1.92 per litre. Effective today about two hours ago. This price hike really took me by surprise. That is a really significant increase, its no joke at all. Personally for me, at least, it will have no effect on me as I run my business from home and I do not use the car except for running errands or going to the bank. Plus, I earn in USD, geddit? USD is getting stronger these past few days and I’m really glad of that.

Its a great irony (at least, to me) that the Greatest Islamophobic State in the world today is most likely going to elect a black President in this coming November (trust me, McCain will not win, not by a long shot). I wonder what the missionaries, Christian xenophobes and Islam-haters in the country has to say to that notion of thought happening.
