Movement to oppose PPSMI

I have always held right from the start that the excuse given by the Government saying that one’s command of English will be improved by teaching Science and Mathematics in that language is nothing more than bish-bosh and bullcrap. I was educated in the national system where Bahasa Melayu was used as the medium of instruction for Science and Mathematics, do you see my English being seriously affected or marred in any way? On the contrary, I read a lot of English books during my formative years at school and this “habit” continues until today. I attribute to this as a major reason why I have a very strong command of English. Certainly, this is one of the more viable ways for one to improve his/her standard of English, and not by shoving Science and Mathematical terms in English into one’s throat.
At the same time, I have never abandoned the national language and I have been blogging in standard Bahasa Melayu for some time already. While most blogs in language often use its colloquial form in their posts, I have always done my best to stick to the proper grammar and tenses (yeah, I am such a language freak…I like to dot my i’s and cross my t’s) and its importance has never wavered in my heart. To demote the status of Bahasa Melayu by stripping it away as the medium of instruction in national-type schools is nothing short an aberration. Its turning the clock back to the pre-Merdeka period of the education system.

aku rasa mmg kena nilai baliklah..sbb sape dok bandar mmglah anak2 mereka speaking jerk..yg dok kampung tu bukan tau mo speaking kang salah grammer, pronounce dan belaka dan failed gak bebudak tu.
Aku salah sorang budak yg kengkadang suke lepak kat kampung so dpt rasakan bezanya..tak salah nak gunakan BI tp sewajarnya kecemerlangan tu bukan di nilai dr bahasa yg digunakan..Hatta mereka yg berjaya contohnya Jepun tak pernah pun belajar bahasa asing. Bykkan translate buku english ke BM. Siapa kata tak tau English tak kan kemana2? Buatlah vision yg lebih tulus
