No emphasis on Eid Adha
You would think that this so-called “Islam Hadhari” government, with all their talk about Islamic values and emphasis on Islam [not!] would actually have a tendency to focus more on Eid Adha, the most important festival in Islam which commemorates the sacrifice that our liege-lord Abraham (peace be upon him) made of his beloved son Ishmael (peace be upon him). Of course the corrupted Babble gives a different account of the story of the Sacrifice by giving the right of the first-born son Ishmael to Isaac (peace be upon him), but that is a different issue for another time. Unfortunately, I do not see any television shows touching on Eid Adha or even the Hajj, if at all.
The only show that I saw last night related to this was a documentary on Discovery Channel entitled Revealed: The Hajj. Very educational and rewarding, but that is not the point of this criticism.
Why is the blasted pagan festival of the birth of some semi-naked deity given more prominence and emphasis over the sacrifice of Abraham (P) and his son Ishmael (P)? I really do not understand where the priorities of this government have gone to, who as Muslims stand accountable before God in performing their necessary obligations as ‘umara over the Muslim community in this country. I do not see any effort made to the effect of placing emphasis or honouring the lessons from this important historical moment in Islam. Compared to Eid Fitri, which extravagance almost comes to wastage, no emphasis is made on Eid Adha, if at all.
Really, why?

Indeed Eid al Adha is a major event for all Muslims but what is needed is a thorough investigation of the of Islam the religion and those who made what Islam is today. In a time when the world has shrunk to a global community.
We need to concentrate on using the resources of travel and learning to educate ourselves in a more hands on way, which is more possible these days. If Imam Bukhari travelled for many days to get one hadith then our time we should be learning first hand how our history was shaped. Rather than going on holidays that have little or no importance in terms of our educational endeavour. I think if we travelled with companies like http://www.stepintimetours.com and used travel to educate ourselves about our own religions and other religions, then we would not need to have programs about these events we would know first hand.
