Siti Nurhaliza and the Battle of Yarmuk

January 29th, 2008

I do not usually read Malay-based blogs, but I do find this post very interesting, even entertaining as well. It reminds me that I have to catch up on reading Osprey Publishing’s Yarmuk AD 636, which I downloaded not too long ago. Which reminds me that I really should go out and get a printer to print out the pages so that I could read it at leisure.

It would be good to actually learn and reflect on something, instead of entertaining some goblok individuals That-Shall-Not-Be-Named who really should only be seen, and not heard.

  1. Hi Menj,

I’ve been following your writings quietly. Although I don’t quite agree with all your opinions but I do admire your zeal in upholding your religion. It is admirable.

I’m a Catholic, and yes you have refered to people like me as followers of a half naked God, infidel etc. Much as I feel a tad offended by such statements, I guess it’s because you have been offended as well by some Christians or Catholics in the past who may have tried to push their faith on to you. Well, if that is the case I do apologise, as I myself find such people a pain in the arse.

Now the reason I chose to comment on an otherwise commentless entry is to try and get inside your head and see if we have anything in common. Like you I am a faithful follower of my religion. However I do not see any harm in having an exchange of ideas between 2 different faiths. So my friend, do you think this is possible? On my word, I am not one of those damned Jehovah Witnesses trying to convert you from Islam. I am just a simple man, who wishes to understand more about you.
