Heard and read the news that the new Penang government is abolishing the NEP in Penang. To me it does not make any real difference as to whether NEP is abolished or not. For so long the policy which was intended to help the Malay poor has been abused by the establishment who rely on dosage form development to enrich themselves. The NEP, for all it claims and purposes, has no real relevance in today’s Malaysia. We have come really a long way since then. Look at how smoothly the transition of power happened in the five states that fell to the Barisan Alternatif. This would not have been possible in 1969.
Having said that however, I do concede that my father was a product of the NEP, and had this policy not come into existence, he would have remained in a remote kampung in Johor tapping rubber, and yours truly will be the son of a rubber tapper. But of course, we are talking about fifty years ago.

Frankly, I am quite speechless. I know that the Opposition (especially PAS) will perform better this time around, but I certainly did not expect it to turn into a massive riot! Its simply amazing when you see the voice of the people translating into votes.
As of to date, the following details has been confirmed:
PENANG FALLS TO OPPOSITION
KELANTAN RETAINED BY OPPOSITION
KEDAH FALLS TO OPPOSITION
SAMY VELLU LOST AT SUNGAI SIPUT
ZAINUDDIN MAIDIN LOST AT SUNGAI PETANI
SHAHRIZAT JALIL LOST AT LEMBAH PANTAI
WAN AZIZAH RETAINS PERMATANG PAUH
I am very excited at this, masha’allah. Change is very near, Malaysia. Change is very near. More news later after I get them confirmed.
I am voting in the Serdang constituency and most unfortunately, I am stuck between a Barang Naik candidate and a Demon After Power candidate (it makes me wonder as to why PKR or PAS is not standing in the area??). It just so happens that I found out who the Demon After Power candidate is. Seems to be an in-thing for candidates to come up with their own blogs, eh? I have to keep that in mind when the time comes for me to serve the country and run for a legislative seat.
A shouting match in Malaysian Parliament, adults behaving like kids…sheesh. This reminds me of those in kindergarten who will shout at each other saying, “my father’s d***k is bigger than yours!”
And you still wonder why I will never vote for either?
