Playing with Qur’an swearing

August 16th, 2008

Something about this whole liwat thing bothers me, despite the so-called “Qur’an swearing” and all. I’ve never seen a more relaxed sodomy victim sitting calmly in a room full of pressmen and photographers and taking questions without batting even an eyelid. You would think that a post-traumatic victim of sodomee would show some kind of anxiety disorder or distress after being violated in the butt-hole. But truth is, I do not see any of those signs in Saiful Bukhari Azlan. Do I think he is a victim? The answer is obvious.

As for the so-called “Quran-swearing” event itself, I have yet to see the video of the actual process taking place so I cannot say for certain what actually transpired, although according to the Malaysiakini reports the scene was recorded and shown to the reporters. I’ve done my fair share of swearing on the Qur’an to respond to the fitna of an Islam Liberal (who has convieniently until today yet to reply) but the way this whole thing is playing out in the “sodomy victim’s” case just does not feel right.

“Muslim Internet Activist” coming soon

July 13th, 2008

Coming soon…a name card fit for a “Muslim Internet Activist” (oh yeah, that’s yours truly!). I already had a business card done previously which I am planning to send to the printers soon, so I thought, “why not make another name card that covers my Islamic activism side”? Hence the name card that you see above. I kinda like it, it reflects my personal identity and reflect strong Islamic roots that I would like to present to others. It still needs some work though but I expect it to be done very soon for a final version.

What went wrong with Sufiah?

March 31st, 2008

sufiah.jpg

I remember her very well, since she was a product of my generation. At an age younger than me by at least four years, she stepped into Oxford (taking up Maths, no less!) while I was struggling in 2K1 at Sekolah Menengah Abdullah Munshi (and didn’t do well at Maths during that time, I admit). But while I have today become not only a problogger but also Internet activist, what has she become?

Not “Western” enough for you?

March 23rd, 2008

This is probably one of the few times you will see me appear in a tuxedo in public. After all, how many times have you seen a Muslim blogger and self-confessed Islamist in a western suit?

Now if anyone thinks he (or she) can get away with calling me a “Taliban”, “towel-head”, “sand-nigger” or any derogative remarks that one is bound to hear from a bigoted, regressive and backwards-looking Islamophobe, all I have to do is sit back and laugh while I swagger in my new tuxedo outfit. By the way, the full suit costs RM950 in total, so what was that again I hear about yours truly being “unemployed”?
