The rubbish that is called FITNA

March 30th, 2008

After watching the rubbish that is called FITNA, the latest anti-Islam movie diatribe from the Islamophobe extraordinaire Geert Wilders laknatullah alaih (may Allah curse him and send him to the deepest depths of Jahannam), I must say that these people sure are making me bored with their repeated accusations ad nauseam about Islam as well as their rather myopic view of the Muslim World in general. Perhaps I will do a more detailed assessment of the movie later but I do have some observations that I would like to address in pointing out the rather biased and ill-informed, propagandistic nature of this movie. It certainly lives up to its name of causing FITNA (discord) against Muslims and what they truly believe in.

Firstly, Islam’s stand against terrorism is well-known. There is no need to repeat this again and again like a broken record but unfortunately, some idiots like Geert Wilders and their ilk will never get this into their puny little brains.

Secondly, most of the Qur’anic verses quoted were either ripped out of their context or seriously mistranslated to make it slant and influence the viewer that Islam promotes terrorism. One example I noted is the verse regarding the punishment of God for those who disbelieve in Him in the Hereafter; the description of the verse was referring to the punishment of HELL, and not a worldly punishment or something that Muslims are enjoined to undertake. In other words, it is God who will exert the punishment and not the Muslims. A cursory reading of that particular passage will certainly make it clear to those who do not have seals over their hearts. That is only one example I saw, I am sure that I can find others.

Third and the final point, most of the images that they show are from war-torn or conflict areas such as in Iraq, Occupied Palestinian Territories and Afghanistan. There are even pictures of children with their heads bloodied after the matam. These children are SHIITES and the practice of matam [which is essentially a ritual that makes you all bloodied, black and blue after self-beating] is an exclusively SHIITE practice on the Day of Ashura. They forget that the Shia only consists of 10% of the whole Muslim World, and SUNNIS make up the rest. Since when did we elect Ahmedinejad or those Shia ayatollahs in Iran and Iraq to speak for the Muslim World??

The people behind the making of the video obviously thinks that Islam is a monolithic culture and every Muslim practices the same way. WRONG. Muslims behave and dress differently according to cultural contexts in various parts of the Muslim world. So to paint all Muslims with the same cultural brush is ludicrous, to say the least.

In the end, we say to these people that verily, God’s Words is indeed true when He says:

“As to those who reject Faith it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; They will not believe. Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing and on their eyes is a veil. Great is the penalty they incur.” [Al-Qur’an 2:6-7]

When Geert Wilders laknatullah alaih meets His Maker one day, he would do well to keep this verse in mind. Of course most unfortunately for him, that would be probably be too late by then.
